Location: E- Ways Group, Vista Mutiara Kepong

An internal talk and training session was conducted for the Funcare Treasure Hunt committees to deepen their understanding of individuals with disabilities in Malaysia.

During the session, we explored the different categories of disabilities, including hearing, mental, and learning disabilities. Participants were introduced to the signs and symptoms associated with each category, emphasizing the importance of early detection and early intervention in improving outcomes and providing effective support.

In addition, we reviewed recent statistics on persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Malaysia, which show a rising trend over the past three years. This highlights the growing need for increased awareness and community support. The session also provided insights into how Malaysia’s social welfare system supports individuals with different types of disabilities.

To enhance learning, several experiential activities were conducted. Participants engaged in simulation games that allowed them to better understand the daily challenges faced by PWDs. For example, they experienced visual impairment by wearing specially designed spectacles and performed tasks with restricted limb movement. These activities helped participants gain empathy and a deeper appreciation of the everyday experiences of individuals with disabilities.
